Elkhart Memorial tops Northridge in NLC baseball

Noah Pawlak produced three hits and two runs scored Friday, May 2, as Elkhart Memorial (9-6-1, 4-2) earned a 7-4 Northern Lakes Conference baseball victory at Northridge.

At Goshen, Jorge Pizana pitched a complete game and struck out 11 as the host Redskins won their first NLC game of the season, topping Wawasee 5-3.

At Plymouth, the host Pilgrims scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to surprise NorthWood 7-6 in NLC play. Tanner Cleveland had four hits, while his brother, Blake, had three for the Panthers.

In a Northeast Corner Conference semifinal game, Austin Christner had a walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Fairfield a 4-3 victory over Prairie Heights. Winning pitcher Andrew Bobeck went the distance, striking out nine.

The NECC final at noon Saturday, May 3, will feature Fairfield vs. Westview at Angola. Westview (8-2) scored one run in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge Churubusco 5-4 in the other semifinal.
