Blue Blazers' offense keys three-win Saturday

Katelyn Woods has five hits and Kaylee Pletcher four as Jimtown beat Westview. Brooke Maes hurls no-hitter for Northridge.

The Elkhart Central softball team won three games Saturday, April 26, beating Elkhart Christian 18-3 and 16-2 before a tough nine-inning victory over NorthWood.

Senior Kate Cobb singled in the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning against NorthWood, giving the Blazers a 7-6 victory. The Panthers had tied the game in the top of the seventh, scoring a single run.

Pitchers Kelsey Cobb and Makayla Clark each picked up their first pitching wins of the year against Elkhart Christian.

At LaPorte, Elkhart Memorial took a 6-3 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning, before giving up nine runs to the Slicers and eventually losing 12-8. Kiersten Osowski had three hits in a losing cause for Memorial.

At Jimtown, Katelyn Woods had five hits, and winning pitcher Kaylee Pletcher added four as Jimtown beat Westview 13-8. Woods had three doubles, while Pletcher homered for the Jimmies

At West Noble, Brooke Maes tossed a no-hitter to lead Northridge to an easy 10-0 victory over West Noble, in a non-conference matchup.

At John Glenn, Fairfield's offense dominated the host Falcons, posting 14-3 and 20-2 victories in non-conference play. Alexis Zook had a huge day for Fairfield, getting five hits and stealing seven bases in the 14-3 win and homering and scoring five times in the 20-2 victory, which also saw D.J. Martz homer and drive in six runs.

Wawasee split two games, beating Whitko 12-3 and losing to Rochester 10-0. Ali Brito had a big game for the Warriors against Whitko, collecting three hits, driving in three and stealing three bases.

At the Carmel Invitational, the Penn Kingsmen won three times, beating Castle 7-6, Noblesville 6-2 and West Lafayette 11-0.
