Nixon twirls perfect game, O'Dell provides power for Northridge

Fairfield, Penn notch sweeps. Jimtown's Woods, NorthWood's Mattingly register multi-homer days.

Haley Nixon tossed a five-inning perfect game and Brianne O'Dell homered and doubled while going 3-for-3 with five runs batted in as host Northridge beat Westview 10-0 in high school softball Saturday, April 19.

At Fairfield, Lairen Miller stuck out 11 in the second game as the Falcons completed a doubleheader sweep of Jimtown with a 10-1 win.

Katelyn Woods homered in each game of the twin bill for the Jimmies.

At NorthWood, Allie Mattingly homered twice and drove in five runs as the Panthers hammered Hamilton 15-1.

At Penn, Danielle Watson fired a no-hitter in the second game as the Kingsmen completed a sweep with a 7-2 win over Valparaiso. Both runs off Watson were unearned.

Mackenzie Joecken, the winning pitcher in the 12-2 first game, had four hits and four RBIs on the day, while Monica Smith tripled in each contest.

At Mishawaka, RaeAnn Miller backed her own cause with three hits as Concord nipped Mishawaka 5-4 in the opening game of a doubleheader. The hosts salvaged a split with an 8-4 second-game win despite four hits by the Minutemen's McKenzie Loge.

At Triton, freshman Meghan Fretz went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and Ali Ousley homered as Wawasee beat the Trojans 8-2.

At South Bend, Elkhart Central's Brittney VanderHoek stole four bases, scored three runs and had two hits in an 11-1 win against Goshen during the Adams Invitational.
