Raiders split pair, Penn goes 2-1 in softball

Nixon leads Northridge over Angola; Concord handles SB Washington.

Class 4A No. 3-ranked Northridge stacked up 20 hits on the way to beating host Angola 16-5 in high school softball Saturday, April 12, but then the Raiders were solved 2-0 by 2A No. 9 Lakewood Park in a battle of ranked teams.

Butler recruit Mikeila Boroff struck out 10 Northridge batters and scattered four hits in the Raiders' second outing of the day.

In the first one, Haley Nixon tripled among three hits and drove in three runs to back her own cause in the circle. Brianne O'Dell had five hits over the day's two games for Northridge.

Penn went 2-1 in its own Spring Break Tournament, falling to Marian 5-2 but handling New Prairie and Lafayette Jeff by 13-2 and 7-1 scores, respectively.

During the two Kingsmen wins, Halle Hixenbaugh, Mackenzie Joecken and Addison Pixley each had five hits, while Alyssa Griman drove in six runs. Hixenbaugh stole six bases on the day.
