Northridge's Ritchie named IBCA Academic All-State

Five students from Penn, three from Northridge, two each from Elkhart Christian Academy and NorthWood garner honorable mention nods.

INDIANAPOLIS — Northridge's Nate Ritchie is among 69 boys and girls players statewide named Thursday, March 20, as Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Academic All-State first-team selections.

The honor is based on possessing both athletic and academic prowess, accordiing to the IBCA.

Several other area players are among the 242 honorable mention choices, including Ryan Kupferschmid and Tanner Watson of Elkhart Christian; Molly Bontrager, Brianne O'Dell and Morgan Miller of Northridge; and Taylor Fielstra and Inger Yoder of NorthWood.

Penn had five individuals named, including Matt Chaffee, Isaiah Cook, Andrew Kimm, Christian Wittendorf and Caroline Buhr.
