Thursday’s volleyball:

No. 1 Marian tops Central

The Marian High volleyball team, ranked No. 1 in Class 3A, defeated Elkhart Central, 25-2-, 25-23 and 25-0 on Thursday, Oct. 10, in Northern Indiana Conference action.

Senior Azariah Stahl had 22 kills for Central, now 24-3 on the year.

At Goshen, Elkhart Memorial topped the Redskins in three games, to clinch the Northern Lakes Conference title with a perfect improving 7-0 mark. Tori Mills had 28 assists for the Crimson Chargers, while Chelsea Bettis had nine kills.

At Jimtown, the host Jimmies posted a 3-0 victory over Triton in Northern State Conference action. Lacy Brown had 26 assists, four kills and two aces for the Jimmies.

At Elkhart, Westview cruised to a 3-0 non-conference win over Elkhart Christian, as Makai Gingerich had a big night with 21 assists.

At Middlebury, Northridge improved to 21-5 on the year with a three-game sweep of Plymouth. Kelly Miller had 12 kills, four blocks and 12 digs for the Raiders.

At Syracuse, NorthWood took four tough games to knock off Wawasee in NLC play. Allie Mattingly had 23 assists for the Panthers.

At Benton, a red-hot Fairfield team moved to 8-1 in the Northeast Corner Conference by beating Churubusco in three games.
