Saturday’s girls cross country: Woods, Frank go 1-2 to lead Penn to New Haven Invite title

Maddie Woods and Danielle Frank of Penn ran 1-2 to lead the Kingsmen to the team title in the 21-team New Haven Invitational girls cross country meet on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne.

Elkhart Memorial junior Brooke Moore placed third among the 289 runners in 18:47 and Elkhart Christian junior Kayla Casaletto fifth in 19:14.

Woods, a junior, won in 18:17.61, with Frank, a sophomore, 21 seconds behind her.

Penn scored 79 points as a team with Pendleton Heights second at 90. Concord was 10th at 311.

At the multi-division Culver Academy Invite, Fairfield took the Closed division title among 22 schools at 101 points, well ahead of Brown County’s 145.
