ELKHART — Productive passing quarterbacks are as much a part of the Central High School football legacy as the lightning emblem on the Blue Blazers’ helmet.

Nick Faus will graduate as the holder of every top ECHS statistic on record and he’ll take his lively arm to the next level this fall at St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer.

“I believe Nick is going to be a great addition to the St. Joe football team,’’ said Central coach Levon Johnson. “He has developed excellent leadership qualities and possesses an intense work ethic.”

A three-year starter at QB, Faus established single-game, single-season and career records for completions, yards and touchdowns. Faus was 416 of 733 passing in his career for 5,764 yards with 45 touchdowns. His single-game highs for yards was 458 and TD’s was five.

“As a quarterback, he was able to make every throw we asked him to and put the ball in a place his receivers were able to make plays after the catch.”

Last year, the Pumas were 6-5 in the first year as a member of the new Great Lakes Valley Conference.
