Spencer Schnell, who set a flurry of Central High School football receiving records during his varsity career, was named to the North squad for the annual Grange Insurance All-Star Football Game.
Schnell, who established Blue Blazers marks for receptions in a game and season and yards in a game and season, will suit up with six other Elkhart Truth area players at the summer showcase. The game will be played Friday, July 19, at North Central High School in Indianapolis. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Tyler Hoffman of Concord was selected at offensive line, Jimtown’s Tanner Adams made the team as a linebacker and Fairfield’s Eldon Burtsfield was chosen at placekicker.
Also on the North team are Marian halfback Michael Whitfield, Wawasee lineman Chad Eppley and Penn defensive back Michael Mason. Quarterback Sam Schrader and punter Cody Childress of Class 4A state runnerup Mishawaka were selected.
Representing the Indiana Football Coaches Association Region II on the North staff will be Marian head coach Reggie Glon and Fairfield assistant Jim Jones.
Tim Roth of Winamac was tabbed as the North squad’s head coach.
