JIMTOWN — Ron Dietz is fond of saying that he would pay to watch Brody Olson play.

Dietz, the Jimtown boys basketball coach, did not have to get into his pockets Tuesday, but he did see the 5-foot-11 senior help lead the Jimmies to a 52-45 come-from-behind victory against Fairfield on Senior Night at Jerry Cook Court.

“He brings a lot of energy to our team,” said Dietz, who saw Olson produce team-leading totals in points (14) and rebounds (9) as Jimtown moved to 7-12 with one game remaining in the 2012-13 regular season. “His hustle created a lot of scoring opportunities. His offensive rebounds helped us control the tempo.”

Olson’s play also got the attention of Fairfield coach Troy Beachy.

“Olson had five offensive rebounds,” said Beachy, who watched his team fall to 10-11. “Those were desire plays. He just went and got it,” Beachy said.

The Falcons led the Jimmies 24-9 three minutes into the second quarter then saw the hosts go on a 19-2 run to take a 28-26 lead early in the third period.

From there, the game was back and forth until the fourth quarter when Jimtown got into the bonus and then the double bonus and canned 14 of 17 free throws (19 of 22 for the game).

Chase Hoeflinger went 8 of 8 at the stripe — 4 of 4 in the fourth quarter — and netted 12 points for the Jimmies.

Garrett Scott produced 14 points (nine in the first half) and nine rebounds for Fairfield.
