Five Elkhart area senior players who previously announced commitments to NCAA Division I basketball scholarships have each made those decisions official during the first couple days of the NCAA’s early signing period that began Wednesday and continues through Nov. 21.
Memorial’s Markese McGuire has signed with Illinois-Chicago, Concord’s Franko House has signed with Ball State University, Penn’s Leo Svete has signed with Western Michigan and the duo of Marian’s Demetrius Jackson and Penn’s Austin Torres have each inked with Notre Dame, according to the respective colleges involved.
On ESPN.com’s list of 2013 Indiana recruits, Jackson is rated the No. 1 player in the state (the Irish also signed No. 3 V.J. Beachem of New Haven), while Svete is No. 11 and McGuire No. 19. House and Torres are not among the top 20.
