MIDDLEBURY — Concord’s “two-headed monster” — aka double-threat quarterback Trevor Wilmore — helped the Minutemen roll up plenty of yards on the ground and through the air Friday.

Wilmore passed for 251 yards and ran for 177 more with three touchdowns in a rain-soaked 56-28 Northern Lakes Conference football victory against Northridge.

The win allowed the Minutemen (6-2, 5-1) to share a piece of the NLC lead with Plymouth and Warsaw with one week left in the regular season. Concord travels to Warsaw while Plymouth plays host to NorthWood next week.

“We wanted to show up and play hard,” said Concord coach Tim Dawson, who saw his team snap a two-game losing streak. “Trevor threw well in these conditions. He is our two-headed monster. We know he can run, He’s got some great speed. We wanted to be able to see him throw the ball, too, because he has some guys to catch it.”

Adam Glanders caught six balls for the Minutemen while Franko House snagged four and Chris Martin three.

DuWhan Alford bulled his way for 82 yards and two touchdowns for the winners, which had 527 yards of offense and 27 first downs.

The Raiders (1-7, 0-6) got 215 yards passing from Tanner Love with touchdown strikes of 48 and 66 yards to Jaylin Rolle.

Love is just weeks removed from sitting out because of a concussion.

“Our gameplan was to throw it,” said Northridge coach Jonathan Kirkton. “We didn’t think we’d be able to move it much between the tackles.”

Kirkton had his team kick onsides time after time and go for it on fourth down consistently or fake a punt.

“We just had some breakdowns mentally,” said Kirkton, who saw his team lose two fumbles and an interception that led to three of Concord’s eighth touchdowns. “You can’t do that against a good football team.”

Payton Carson had two takeaways for the Raiders with a fumble recovery and an interception.

“He’s a good football player,” said Kirkton. “We have to find a way to get him on the field.”
