but Hakim wins$SUBT_OFF$
DUNLAP — Due to rain Wednesday, the Concord Regional boys tennis championship match between Northeast Corner Conference rivals Fairfield and Angola was postponed to today, Oct. 4, at 4:30 p.m.
However, the No. 1 individual sectional singles match between Memorial’s Mazin Hakim and Bethany Christian’s Nate Brendle was moved indoors to the Eastlake Athletic Club, where Hakim rallied to win 1-6, 7-5, 7-5.
Earlier, Concord officials had just finished using leaf blowers to dry the courts when a persistent drizzle started again. After discussing the situation with coaches, the decision was made to move the regional team final to today.
Also today, Concord’s T Cunningham and Trevor Warren will face Goshen’s Sam Stegelmann and Sylas Buller in an individual doubles match.
The schedule for possible further individual singles and doubles matches (Angola is alive in both) will be determined after today’s play.
