Kynard transfers from Ohio State to Xavier

Ex-Ohio State women's basketball player Maleeka Kynard transferring to Xavier for final season

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ex-Ohio State basketball player Maleeka Kynard is transferring to Xavier.

She will have one year of eligibility remaining with the Musketeers after graduating from Ohio State in August.

A 5-foot-7 guard from Start High School in Toledo, Ohio, Kynard played in 74 games with four starts for the Buckeyes during the past three seasons. A three-year letter winner, Kynard averaged 3.5 points per game and recorded 24 steals and 26 assists last season while dealing with injuries and an illness.

Xavier coach Brian Neal says Kynard will be a veteran presence on his young team.
