Goodbye, crystal. Hello, gold.

The College Football Playoff unveiled the new championship trophy during a live broadcast Monday, July 14.

The three-foot tall, 24k gold trophy replaces the crystal football (Coaches’ Trophy), which was awarded to the winner of the BCS national champions for 27 years.

The trophy will go to the winner of the College Football Playoff National Championship game Jan. 12, 2015, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

ESPN released a commercial for the new College Football Playoff on Monday. It features actor Sean Astin, reprising his role as Rudy, introducing the new playoff system in the form of a motivational speech.
