NOTRE DAME — For the fourth time in four years, Notre Dame is heading to the Final Four.
But first, the Irish had to exorcise an old demon.
Notre Dame entered the Elite Eight Monday, March 31, 0-4 all-time against Baylor. But a 30-point performance by sophomore Jewell Loyd lifted the Irish to a 88-69 win on their home court.
Natalie Achonwa registered a double-double before halftime, finishing with 19 points and 15 rebounds. She went down after a hard foul with five minutes left in the game and limped to the locker room.
Loyd and Baylor's Odyssey Sims battled on the point, exchanging buckets throughout the night. Sims led all scorers with 33 points.
Notre Dame will play the winner of third-seeded Louisville and fourth-seeded Maryland in the Final Four April 6 in Nashville.
