IU South Bend sent over 1,000 students home with diplomas Tuesday, conferring degrees to 1,089 graduates at its 2014 commencement ceremonies.

IU President Michael McRobbie and IUSB Chancellor Terry Allison addressed the graduating class, telling them to remember that learning is a process and not a product.

McRobbie said he believes their education has prepared the class of 2014 to be active and engaged members of democracy.

Allison told the class of 2014 he expected them to continue learning after graduation.

“Give your all to something. Don’t just follow a passion, lead with a passion,” he said. “This ceremony does not mark the end of your studies but a new beginning in which you must take charge of your learning.”
