GOSHEN — Dale Stoltzfus has resigned as women’s soccer coach at Goshen College after one season, the school announced Friday, May 23.

Stoltzfus cited family health concerns for stepping down and his resignation is effective immediately.

"In his one year, Dale did a phenomenal job rebuilding the team and laying the foundation for a successful future," outgoing Goshen athletic director Tim Demant said. "We are disappointed to receive his resignation, although we fully support and understand that his family needs to be his priority. His knowledge and ability to analyze and teach the game will be missed."

A 1984 Goshen College graduate, Stoltzfus led the Maple Leafs to a 9-9 record last fall, the program’s most wins and best percentage since going 13-7-1 in 1997.

Stoltzfus returned to his alma mater after going 477-194-52 over 36 seasons as a highly successful high school boys and girls coach in Pennsylvania and Indiana — including at Elkhart Central, where his 1995 boys team advanced to the state finals.

Demant said the search for the eighth head coach in Goshen College women’s soccer history has already begun.
