SOUTH BEND — Indiana University South Bend has named Steve Bruce its executive director of athletics and activities.

Bruce will also remain head women’s basketball coach of the Titans.

Bruce’s additional responsibilities come as IUSB prepares to add men’s and women’s cross country and men’s golf to its list of varsity sports in the fall of 2015. The school offers men’s and women’s basketball and women’s volleyball.

“Coach Bruce has built a strong program with the women’s basketball team that serves as a model for athletics at IU South Bend,” IUSB chancellor Terry Allison said in announcing Bruce’s appointment. “He has the experience, skill and leadership to build the new programs into exceptional teams of scholar-athletes who are successful in their sports and in the classroom.”

The Titan women’s basketball team went 20-11 this past season, its eighth under Bruce, and achieved a cumulative 3.55 grade point average.

IUSB competes on the NAIA level and is a member of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
