Goshen's Boussom wins five times in USTA nationals

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Goshen's Danny Boussom played this week in the USTA Boys 18 & 16 National Championships.

In 128-player 16 Singles draw, the unseeded Boussom beat first-round opponent Christopher Yun, of Marietta, Ga., 6-2, 6-2, then lost to No. 7 seed Zeke Cark, of Tulsa, Okla., 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.

In the consolation round, Boussom bowed to Joseph McCallister, of St. Louis, 6-3, 6-1.

Boussom partnered with Connor Johnston, of Novi, Mich., in doubles. The unseeded pair defeated Adam Ambrozy and Kaden Funk, 6-7(5), 6-2, 10-8, Jackson Cobb and Wilson Hamilton, 6-2, 6-1, Alex Hruyn and Abhin Sharma, 6-1, 6-3 and No. 7-seeded Jordan Benjamin and Sebastian Memersky, 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 before losing in the quarterfinals to No. 3 seeds Alex Phillips and Robert Loeb, 6-3, 6-2.
