Kari Bellville eases into Championship Flight of WWGA National Junior

Penn graduate posts second straight 79 on her home course.

GRANGER — Kari Bellville of Granger finished tied for seventh through two days of qualifying Tuesday, July 29, to easily advance into the Championship Flight match play portion of the Women’s Western Golf Association’s 88th National Junior Championship at Knollwood Country Club.

Bellville posted her second straight 79 to finish qualifying at 158.

Emily White of Saline, Mich., was the top qualifier at 153 (78-75), followed by Sarah Shipley of Hastings, Mich., at 155 (81-74).

More than 80 golfers are part of the field, including Bellville’s fellow Penn High grad Madison Chesnutt (177) and Penn junior Cassidy Jurkaites (181). Chesnutt and Jurkaites each moved into Second Flight play.

In the 32-player Championship Flight, Bellville was slated to go against Kory Nielsen (164) of Kent, Ohio, in a 10:02 a.m. matchup Wednesday.
