CJHS fall sports tryouts, practices to begin in August

Concord Junior High School athletes, listen up. The school’s fall sports programs will have tryouts, practices and more starting in August.

DUNLAP — Concord Junior High School athletes interested in participating in fall sports should note callouts for football, soccer, volleyball, cross country and cheerleading will take place prior to school starting in August.

Anyone interested in participating in athletics needs to have a physical dated after April 1, 2014, turned into the CJHS athletic office prior to tryouts.  

There is $10 activity fee for all athletes that’s due the first day of practice. 

Concord Junior High School fall sports dates

Football

July 31: Equipment pickup at football garage from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Aug. 1: Equipment pickup at football garage from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Aug. 4-8: Practice from 4 to 6:30 p.m. (Locker rooms open at 3:45 p.m.)

Starting Aug. 11: Practice from 2:55 to 5 p.m. (Locker rooms open at 2:30 p.m.)

Volleyball 

Aug. 6-8: Eighth grade tryouts in the main gym from 8 to 9 a.m.; seventh grade tryouts in the main gym from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Aug. 11: Seventh and eighth grade practice from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

Soccer 

Aug. 6-7: Boys tryouts from 3 to 4:30 p.m. (meet on practice field); girls tryouts 4:30 to 6 p.m. (meet on practice field.)

Aug. 11: Boys practice from 3 to 4:30 p.m.; girls practice from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Cross Country 

Aug. 11: Practice from 3:30 to 5:15 p.m. (meet at the main door of CJHS)

8th Grade Cheerleading

Aug. 14: Practice from 3 to 4:30 p.m. (meet in the wrestling room)

7th Grade Cheerleading

Aug. 14: Introduction/practice from 3 to 4 p.m. (meet in the wrestling room)
