Concord takes Major Softball district championship

Alexis Kern strikes out 14 batters as Concord tops Middlebury for sectional berth.

Alexis Kern struck out 14 batters to help Concord defeat Middlebury 3-1 in the District 14 Little League All-Stars Major Softball championship game Tuesday, July 1.

Emma Sandy fanned 10 for Middlebury.  

Concord moves on to sectional play and is scheduled to play in a 10 a.m. sectional doubleheader at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 5, at Osolo. If neccessary, a third game will be played Sunday, July 6, in Fort Wayne.

Game 7: Concord 3, Middlebury 1. WP — Alexis Kern (14 strikeouts). LP — Emma Sandy (10 strikeouts). Concord: Hits — Sydney Simon 2. 2B — Yadira Gomez. Middlebury: 2B — Emma Sandy.

District 14 Little League All Stars 

9-10 Softball

Game 1: Concord 7, Goshen 6. WP — Allie Moss. LP — Emma Detwiler. Concord: Hits — Emily Bradshaw 2, Mariyah Medford 2. Goshen: Hits — Fatima Pizana 2, Brianna Vance 2, Abigail Webb 2, Brynn Shoup-Hill 2.

Game 2: Middlebury 24, Osolo 14. WP — Alex Sheets (3 strikeouts). LP — Rory Homan (3 strikeouts). Middlebury: Hits — Jenna Bible 2. 2B —Brooklyn Brouillette, Alaina Yoder. Osolo: Hits — Emily Cornish 2. 2B — Cheyenne O’Dell, Hailey Hepner. 3B — Hepner.
