Karvel Anderson scores 38 to key Robert Morris’ win

NEW YORK - Elkhart Memorial graduate Karvel Anderson scored 38 points on Tuesday, March 18, to lead Robert Morris to an 89-79 victory over St. John’s in the first round of the NIT Men’s basketball tournament.

The Colonials, who beat Kentucky in the NIT last season, led by as many as 25 against top-seeded St. John’s and never trailed in the contest.

Anderson was 12-of-20 from the field, including a 9-of-15 effort from 3-point range. He also grabbed five rebounds.

Robert Morris (22-13) advances to play the winner of the Bellmont-Green Bay game in the second round of the tournament.
