GOSHEN — Relish a twist on conventional badminton and tennis?

Pickleball might be your answer.

"It's the world's easiest racket sport," said Dr. Jim Wellington, Goshen Park and Recreation Department board member.

Beginning Wednesday, March 12, the parks department will host weekly pickleball sessions from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Goshen Middle School.

Wellington said the game combines elements of badminton and tennis, using paddles and a Wiffle ball on a small court.

Instruction will be provided. The sessions are free and will take place at Goshen Middle School through May, when the parks department will likely move the games outside. All ages are welcome. Wear non-marking shoes.

For more information contact the Goshen Park and Recreation Department at 534-2901 or Wellington at 533-7345.

The Chicago White Sox had one of the majors' most powerful right-handed bats last season in Jose Abreu. Now they are hoping Adam LaRoche can help balance their lineup. LaRoche has agreed to a contract with the White Sox, a person familiar with the situation said Friday, Nov. 21.
