High school sports canceled for Saturday

Basketball games for girls and boys and wrestling have been canceled for Saturday, Jan. 25. because of bad winter weather and icy roads.

Posted on Jan. 25, 2014 at 3:20 p.m.

Winter weather pitched a shutout against area high school sports teams again on Saturday, Jan. 25.

Events affected included all three conference wrestling meets involving area schools and the Elkhart Memorial at Northridge boys basketball game that featured the Northern Lakes Conference's two 3-0 teams.

That game has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 29, while the NLC wrestling at Concord is now slated to take place over two days on Jan. 28 and 29.

Wrestling sectionals are next Saturday, meaning area athletic directors will be scrambling as they try to fit in league meets before then, especially with forecasts for Monday and Tuesday calling for more rough weather.

The girls basketball calendar is tightening as well, with sectionals slated to start the week of Feb. 10.

The below list includes events postponed from Jan. 25, as well as the events that were postponed a day earlier but have since added a new date, and some other events that have been newly changed.
