Kupferschmid reaches 1,000 as Eagles cruise to victory

ELKHART—The Elkhart Christian boys basketball team hit 16 3-point shots, while senior Ryan Kupferschmid reached the 1,000 career point plateau, as the Eagles crushed winless Lakeland Christian 97-21 Saturday, Jan. 11.

Kupferschmid finished with 22 points, second on the team to classmate Cory Waycaster's 24. Kupferschmid now has 1,009 career points. Drew Overmyer added 17 points for ECA, while Tanner Watson had 15 points and 10 rebounds. Jon Anderson led the Eagles with 13 rebounds.

Elkhart Christian, now 7-1 on the year, hit 16 of its 32 shots from beyond the arc. Lakeland Christian (0-11) hit just 17 percent from the field.

The Eagles will travel to South Bend St. Joseph for a tough matchup with the Indians on Tuesday, Jan. 14.
