Baugo eliminated in LL junior state

District 14 reps unable to bounce back from 10-9 heartbreaker.

PORTAGE — Baugo was eliminated from the Indiana Little League junior baseball state tournament with a 6-2 loss to Franklin Township on Saturday, July 27.

That game came less than 24 hours after a narrow, heartbreaking defeat dropped the District 14 representatives into the losers bracket.

Against Franklin, Clint Whitman had two hits and Noah Mazaar drove in both runs for Baugo. Nate Swann took the mound defeat.

On Friday, July 26, Baugo suffered a 10-9 loss to Valparaiso after leading by an 8-4 count into the fifth inning.

Dakota Pratt, Dalton Heintzenberger and Aiden Crowder had two hits apiece for Baugo. Breckin Hamby took the loss.

In its tourney opener, Zach Hill drove in three runs with a pair of doubles and Swann got the win on the mound as Baugo whipped Eagle Creek 10-0 on Thursday, July 25. Swann, Hunter Whitman and Hill each smacked two hits, and Swann drove in a pair of runs.

Seven teams advanced into the state field by virtue of their district titles. The tourney runs through Monday, July 29.
