Wertz tosses no-hitter to key Goshen win

Philip Wertz tossed a no-hitter and struck out 14, as Goshen defeated Concord 8-0 in the championship game of the 50/70 Baseball District 14 Little League All-Stars and advanced to the State Finals July 12 in Terre Haute.

Alan Rivera had three hits for Goshen _ including a home run _ while Austin Bontrager also homered to lead the offense.

In Major Softball, Concord will face Osolo in the championship game on Sunday, July 7, after both teams posted high-scoring wins on Friday, July 5. The title game will be played at Middlebury.

Concord defeated Middlebury 13-8, while Danielle Roberts had five hits to lead Osolo to a 9-8 victory over Baugo.

In a wild 9&10 baseball game, Osolo defeated Middlebury 18-10. Jordan Mueller had five hits for Osolo, including a double and triple, while teammate Roderick Ballard added 3 hits.
