Girls tennis: NECC title goes to Fairfield

Fairfield won the Northeast Corner Conference tournament and overall titles Saturday at Lakeland.

The Falcons placed first at No. 1 singles (Emily Mast), No. 2 singles (Lauren Streit), No. 1 doubles (Mary Shipley and Leah Wimmer) and No. 2 doubles (Ashlen Nisley and Margie Stutzman).

No.1 Doubles: Championship — Mary Shipley/Leah Wimmer (Ff) def. Kristen Heierman/Kylie Bidlack (A) 7-6 (7-5), 7-5. Also — 3rd, Katelyn Miller/Chanda Strong (Wv).

No.2 Doubles: Championship — Ashlen Nisley/Margie Stutzman (Ff) def. Ashton Taner/Kaileight Folland (Fr) 3-6, 7-5, 6-3. Also — 5th, Tess Zimmerly/Donna Miller.

All-NECC: First team — Mast, Streit, Rhoades, Shipley/Wimmer, Nisley/Stutzman.
