Volleyball Stahl opting to skip tryouts

ELKHART — Elkhart’s Azariah Stahl will not participate after all this weekend, Feb. 22-24, in the USA Volleyball Women’s Junior National Team tryouts at Colorado Springs, Colo., due to sharp muscle spasms in her back, according to her father.

John Stahl says he does not believe there is a serious injury involved and that his daughter should still be able try out at a later date.

Azariah Stahl, a junior at Central High School, had lingering spasms following her participation in a tournament last weekend in St. Louis and the ensuing trip home.

Stahl was on the Junior Team that played last August in Nicaragua and that earned the U.S. a spot in this coming June’s FIVB World Championships in the Czech Republic, but all players must try out again for spots on that squad that will compete in June.
