Women’s Basketball Bethel defense keys conference win

MISHAWAKA — Despite shooting just 34 percent from the field, the Bethel Pilots defeated Mount Vernon Nazarene 68-52 Wednesday in Crossroads League women’s basketball action.

Laura Johnson led the Pilots with 23 points while Kristen Hicks added 12 and Ashlee Ort 10. Georgia Boisse had six rebounds, six assists and five steals for the winners.

Bethel hit just 10 of its 32 shots in the first half and led by just one at halftime before outsccoring Mount Vernon 40-25 in the second half to take control.

The Pilots are now 20-5 overall and 10-3 in the conference.
