Memorial falls to Riley despite McGuire’s 24

SOUTH BEND — South Bend Riley grabbed a nine-point first quarter lead and went on to defeat Memorial 76-65 on Tuesday in boys basketball action.

Markese McGuire scored 24 points for the Crimson Chargers while grabbing seven rebounds and adding three assits. Freddie Rhodes and James Hershberger each scored 10 for Memorial — now 6-9 on the year.

Torreay Harris led a ballanced Riley attack with 18 points while Micah Williams had 16, Brock Cosey 15 and Ja’Mare Washington 13 points and nine boards for the Wildcats (10-4).

Memorial shot just 23 percent in the first half (7-30) and trailed by 10 at the half.
