Strong third quarter lifts Marian over Goshen

Marian outscored Goshen 20-2 in the third quarter Wednesday night and went on to defeat the Redskins 51-38.

GOSHEN — Marian outscored Goshen 20-2 in the third quarter Wednesday night and went on to defeat the Redskins 51-38 in boys basketball action at Goshen.

Marian trailed the Redskins 23-20 at halftime before dominating the third quarter and taking a 40-25 lead into the final eight minutes.

Senior All-State candidate Demetrius Jackson scored 27 points to lead Marian, while teammate Quron Marks hit all three of his 3-point shots and finished with nine points.

Freshman Brady Bechtel led the Redskins with nine points. Goshen hit just four of its 21 shots in the second half.
