Nappanee Tornado Five Years Later
A level EF 3 Tornado with winds at more than 165 mph swept down near Nappanee the night of Oct. 18, 2007, destroying more
than 60 houses damaging more than 100 businesses in its path. Though no one was seriously injured, the storm left families
in need of food and shelter while they rebuilt their homes, but it also brought hope to a community devastated by disaster
when hundreds of volunteers arrived to aid the city. This week, The Elkhart Truth presents stories of families and officials
who shared their experience from the night of the storm and their journey rebuilding Nappanee the last five years.
