Thanks to Sen. Joe Donnelly for speaking up and voting to end the shutdown so that hard-working people could go back to work. Senator Donnelly’s vote to raise the debt ceiling was an important step in averting a blow to our recovering economy.
In December, the bipartisan Budget Conference Committee will need to reach an agreement. If they do not find common ground, we may relive the recent fiasco that cost our economy $24 billion. To achieve this, they must consider both raising revenue and cutting spending.
The Stop Tax Havens Abuse Act, introduced by Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., will close tax loopholes that encourage moving jobs overseas and will make small businesses more competitive. This bill offers a way to reduce the deficit while growing our economy. Senator Donnelly has demonstrated his willingness to represent the working class and should continue his commitment to the American people by sponsoring the Levin Bill.
