ELKHART — Gilbert A. Butler, 72, of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born Feb. 18, 1942, in Elkhart to the late Lester and Aletha Butler.
Gilbert is survived by his children, Brandon and Brenton Butler, both of Elkhart, and Tara Butler of New York; sisters Sharon (Paul) Harvey of South Bend, Carole Beathea of Elkhart and Glenda Love of Arizona; brother Milton (Chris) Butler of Elkhart; grandchildren Brian and Vanessa Wiley, both of South Bend, and Devaron and Gabryela Wagner and Braily Butler, all of Elkhart; great-grandchildren Zarayah Wiley and Bryant Goodnight, both of South Bend; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers Gerald, Roger and Keith Butler; and sisters Nora Tuggle and Margie Crockom.
Per Gilbert’s wishes, there will be no services or visitation. Cremation has taken place.
Gilbert worked for several years at Vincent-Bach; he was a family philosopher, enjoyed watching black-and-white cowboy movies and was an avid talker and friend of many.
