ELKHART — Charlie Bob Bumpus, 83, of Elkhart, passed away at 10:48 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Eastlake Terrace in Elkhart.
He was born Dec. 19, 1930, in Dixson, Ky., to the late Robert W. and Estelle M. (Eden) Bumpus.
On Aug. 21, 1954, in Elkhart he married Ida Lee Jones. They were married for 60 years, and she survives.
Together they raised four children, Charles (Deborah) Bumpus, Nila (Pete) Jackson, Thomas (Tesia) Bumpus and Marti Jo Bumpus, all of Elkhart.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Jane Gibson of Elkhart and Wilma (David) Kingerski of LaPir, Mich.; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lowell and Raymond Bumpus.
A memorial service will be held in Charlie’s honor at a later date.
Charlie was a journeyman maintenance at Taylor Products for 30 years until it closed its doors.
He enjoying tinkering in the garage, going to yard auctions, meeting new people and helping others whenever he could.
Charlie was a Korean War veteran who served from 1951 to 1953.
