GOSHEN — John L. Weaver, 83, died in his home Sunday morning, July 27.

He was born Dec. 24, 1930, in Elkhart County to John S. and Minnie (Kohli) Weaver.

On Oct. 31, 1954, he married Phyllis Maxine Yoder at Emma Mennonite Church.

She survives along with a daughter, Sherry Lynn (Steven) Yoder of South Bend; a son, Steven Jay (Cathy) Weaver of Nappanee; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Gongwer of Wakarusa; and a brother, Maynard Weaver of Goshen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Otis Weaver, and two sisters, Christena Brown and Erma Troyer.

A farmer, he also worked at Skyline and Paul’s Mobile Homes. He was a member of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, funeral service at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church. Pastor Wes Bontreger will officiate. Burial will follow in Yellow Creek Cemetery.
