WAKARUSA — Joan Winfred Doering, 85, of Wakarusa, died at 2:25 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Wakarusa.
She was born July 22, 1928, in Wakarusa to Orin Abbott and Wilma (Stewart) Kline.
She married Max “Barney” Doering on Nov. 27, 1947.
Surviving are her husband, Max of Wakarusa; children Von Doering of Wakarusa and Lynn Miller of Nappanee; sister Beverly Fisher of Wakarusa; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a son, Kurt Doering, and sister Bonnie Lambka.
Joan was a homemaker and a member of Wakarusa Missionary Church. She was a 1947 graduate of Wakarusa High School and enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, dancing, animals, her family and life.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 14, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa, where a service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 15. Pastor Ed Geleske will officiate. Burial will be in Olive (West) Cemetery.
