NAPPANEE — Pamela Sue Peffley, 48, of Nappanee, passed away at 6:28 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at Elkhart General Hospital, after a 9-month battle with cancer.
She was born June 11, 1966, in Elkhart.
Pamela graduated from NorthWood High School in 1984 and attended Indiana University in South Bend.
She married Harry “Tony” Peffley on Nov. 16, 1996, at Buelah Missionary Church in Elkhart.
Pamela worked at NorthWood High School as a special education paraprofessional. She enjoyed helping the athletic department as a ticket taker for many sporting events. She was a member of Goshen First United Methodist Church at the Life Center and the Indiana Teacher Association.
Pamela always had a smile on her face and stayed strong through the many hardships she went through. She was known for always saying “hi” and smiling at everyone, as well as her outgoing personality.
Surviving are her husband, Harry “Tony’ Peffley; daughter Amanda Renee Peffley at home; stepchildren Anthony Joseph (Stefanie) Peffley, Thomas Michael Peffley and Alisa Kay Peffley, all of Elkhart; five grandchildren; parents Mary Ann (Dennis) Taylor of Wakarusa and Dave (Beth) Nusbaum of Elkhart; stepbrothers Mike Taylor of California and Tim Taylor of Oklahoma; and her cat, Butkus, aka the Cancer Cat.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, where funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 15. Pastor Ed Fritz will officiate. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery.
