OSCEOLA — Betty J. Katterheinrich, 89, of Osceola, passed away at 7:35 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at Waterford Estates in Hazel Crest, Ill.
She was born Feb. 1, 1925, in St. Joseph County to Levi and Sylvia (Pittman) Madlem.
On May 23, 1943, in Mishawaka, she married Lloyd James Katterheinrich. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1977, in Osceola.
Surviving are two children, Larry (Marion) Katterheinrich of Frankfort, Ill., and Sharon (Richard) Smith of Oceanside, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Phyllis Wenger of Wakarusa.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Arvan Madlem, and a sister, Berna Ulrich.
Betty was a member of Osceola United Methodist Church and a member of Women of the Moose. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and knitting. She was a licensed beautician and had a beauty shop in her home for many years. She retired from Whitehall Laboratories.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 14, at Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home in Osceola. After visitation a procession will form at the funeral home. A graveside service will take place in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Her son-in-law, the Rev. Richard Smith, will preside.
Memorial contributions may be given to Osceola United Methodist Church.
