Her grandfather, Conrad Ziesel, was founder of Ziesel Bros. Co., a well-known retail store in the community for more than 80 years.
She married Danforth Daly Williams in Elkhart on July 5, 1941. He died in 2001.
She is survived by four daughters, Celia Kirk (Charles) of Bristol, Virginia Horn (Vernon)of Dallas, Texas, Marsha Williams (Scott Sonoc),
Highland Park, Ill., and Elizabeth Menzel (Walter) of Tiburon, Calif.; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren;
and her sister, Margery Ziesel Krumwiede (Walter) of Elkhart.
A member of the 1936 Elkhart High School class, Mrs. Williams attended Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., from which she graduated in 1940.
Following graduation she taught English at Monroe High School, Monroe, Mich. During World War II she lived in San Francisco, San Diego and Norfolk, Va., before returning to Elkhart in 1945.
Mrs. Williams belonged to St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church and its altar guild society.
She also served as a member of Elkhart Public Library board and YMCA Board. Other groups with which she was affiliated included Pi Beta Phi, Pi Lambda Theta, The Thursday Club, Kappa, Kappa, Kappa and Elcona Country Club.
A dedicated reader, she also enjoyed writing, swimming, travel and cheering for her beloved Chicago Bears.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 13, at St. John The Evangelist Episcopal Church, 226 West Lexington, Elkhart.
The Rev. Daniel Repp will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John The Evangelist Episcopal Church, 226 West Lexington Ave., Elkhart, IN 46516 or a charity of choice.
