NAPPANEE — Eleanor M. Young, 92, formerly of Nappanee, died at 6 a.m. Thursday, April 24, at Bremen Health Care Center, where she had been residing for nearly five years.

She was born May 7, 1921, in Etna Green to Orris and Artie (Hauck) Baker.

She was a 1940 graduate of Etna Green High School and was a lifetime area resident.

She married Loren Young on Dec. 11, 1943, in Pensacola, Fla. He preceded her in death April 19, 1998.

Mrs. Young was a housewife. She was a member of Nappanee United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women. She also worked in the thrift shop at the church for many years.

She is survived by a son, Roy Young of Nappanee; a daughter, Ruth Young of Nappanee; a sister, Doris Guy of Warsaw; and a special friend, Cherel Moyer.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Fairy Hawley, Legene Smith and Dorothy Baker; and two brothers, Gerald Grosvenor and Kenneth Baker.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and for an hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 28, funeral service at Nappanee United Methodist Church. Pastor Jim Davidson will officiate, and burial will be in Hepton Union Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Nappanee United Methodist Church or Center for Hospice Care.
