ELKHART — Howard Douglas Goodman, 73, of Elkhart, died Sunday, March 16, at IU Health-Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
The Saltville, Va., native was born March 15, 1941, to William and Margaret (Roark) Goodman, both of whom preceded him in death.
Doug retired from Traveline Industries in Elkhart and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed working in the yard, bowling, listening to country music, reading and watching movies, especially westerns.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Wayne “Lonzo” Goodman.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie M. Goodman of Elkhart; sons Ralph (Carol) Goodman and Christopher (Stacy) Goodman, both of Edwardsburg,Mich., and William “Billy” Goodman of Vandalia, Mich.; daughter Lisa (Brian) Garner of Elkhart; brothers William and Henry Goodman, both of Virginia and George Eugene Goodman of South Carolina; sisters Pauline Bryant of South Carolina and Bessie Newton of Virginia; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, where friends may call for an hour prior to services. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
