ELKHART — Woodrow W. Johnson, 91, of Elkhart, passed away at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Woodland Manor.
He was born June 30, 1922, in Constantine, Mich., to Emery and Iona (Tussing) Johnson.
On March 25, 1949, in Elkhart, he married Phyllis Marie Butler. She preceded him in death on July 12, 2007, in Elkhart.
Surviving are two daughters, Lana F. (Harold) Ragan of Elkhart and Cynthia S. Patten of Macon, Ga.; one grandson, Joseph H. Ragan of Cromwell; and a great-grandson, Joseph H. Ragan Jr. of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Warren Johnson; and two sisters, Laura Johnson and Wilma Kiefer.
Woodrow graduated in 1941 from Elkhart High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1944-1946. He enjoyed woodcarving, fishing and playing the guitar that he made. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting. Woodrow retired in 1982 from Conrail.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at the funeral home. Pastor Bob Vale from Osceola United Methodist Church will preside. Burial will follow in Adamsville Cemetery, where the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the Elkhart DAV will render military honors.
