Alma Bontreger
Jan. 10, 1931 - Feb. 5, 2014

LAGRANGE — Alma Bontreger, 83, of LaGrange, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Miller’s Merry Manor in LaGrange.

Mrs. Bontreger was born Jan. 10, 1931, in Hutchinson, Kan., to Dave and Mattie (Yoder) Schrock.

She lived many years in LaGrange County, moving to the area from Elkhart County. Mrs. Bontreger was a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper for more than 30 years at Wolcottville Grain Elevator, and also worked at Starcraft. She was a member of Emma Mennonite Church.

On Oct. 16, 1954, in Wakarusa, she married Gene Bontreger. He survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Tim (Jean) Bontreger of White Pigeon, Mich., Ron (Joann) Bontreger of LaGrange and Rick (Jenny) Bontreger of Goshen; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sue Kurtz and Barbara Weaver, both of Goshen and Mary Yoder of Middlebury; and brother Edward Schrock of Goshen.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Beck, and a brother, Alvin Schrock.

Memorials may be made to Emma Mennonite Church.

Frurip-May Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
