Josephine I. Baker

ELKHART — Josephine I. Baker, 83, of Elkhart, passed away at 9:35 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born April 21, 1930, in Elkhart, to Andrew and Myra (Gerring) Martin.
On Sept. 23, 1950, in Elkhart, she married Robert J. Baker.
He survives along with three children, Linda (Larry) Zilm of Granger, Bobby (Jane) Baker of Sugarland, Texas, and David (Diana) Baker of Syracuse; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and twin brothers Ronnie (Mary Lou) Martin and Donnie (Mary) Martin, both of Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Neff;and two brothers, Walter and Jim Martin.
Josephine graduated in 1949 from Elkhart High School. She was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Bristol. She enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her family.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan.31, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 6:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb.1, at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Bristol. The mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb.1, at the church. Father Bob Van Kempen will preside and cremation will follow.
