SUMMERLAND KEY, Fla. — Hildegard (Hildy) Welsch Nickler, 86, of Summerland Key, passed away Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013.

She was born in Elkhart, Ind., on Feb. 25, 1927, to Ernest G. and Barbara (Ebinger) Welsch.

She married Arthur Nickler in 1945.

She married John Dickinson of Little Torch Key, in 2001. He died in 2004.

Hildy is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Nickler Alwood and son-in-law Richard Oxford of Santa Barbara, Calif.; three brothers, Ernest (Ruth) Welsch of Englewood, Herbert (Carol) Welsch of Fort Myers and Kurt (Judy) Welsch of Pittsburgh. She is also survived by two grandsons, Michael (Jennifer) Alwood of Forestville, Calif., and Chris (Aimee) Alwood, Foothill Ranch, Calif., and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Pine United Methodist Church, 280 Key Deer Blvd., Big Pine Key, FL, 33043, Attn.: Pastor Joyce Alexander. Please note on check “In Memory of Hildy Nickler.” Donations will be made to a fund to purchase an organ for the church.

A memorial service will be at a later date in Summerland Key.
