EDWARDSBURG, Mich. — Roger D. Lewis, 68, of Edwardsburg, passed to his rest Thursday, Dec, 19, 2013, in his home, after a sudden illness.
Roger was born Jan. 2, 1945, in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Clark Lewis and Opal Magee Lewis.
He came to the Michiana area and worked for the RV Industry as a cabinet maker at Skyline, Goshen, Ind., for many years.
Roger’s pleasure was motorcycles; he could be found anywhere there were races. He was a member of American Motorcycle Association. An avid bike racer himself, he enjoyed “trail riding.”
Roger met and fell in love with Judy Darlene (Pontius) Parks. They were married May 4, 1974, in Edwardsburg Presbyterian Church. Judy passed to her rest July 31, 2012.
Surviving Roger are two sons, Jason Lewis and his wife, Christina Lewis, of Elkhart, Ind., and James Lewis and his wife, Teresa, of Niles. There are three daughters, Barbara Bute and her husband, Garth Bute, of Elkhart and twins Mary Parks and Lee Fraley of Riverside, Calif., and Melanie Parks of DeKalb, Ill. There are nine grandchildren, Jessica, Ashley, Haleigh, Hunter, Sarah, Hannah, Owen, Wyatt and Weston. Roger has two siblings surviving him, Anita and her husband, Don Sindelar, of Fayetteville, Ark., and Clark Lewis of Larned, Kan.
Family who have passed, besides his wife and parents, are three siblings, Jeanine Coiner, Bonnie Young and Mahlon Lewis.
Family and friends may gather at Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 W. Main St., Edwardsburg, from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013. A service of remembrance will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at the funeral home, where all may gather for one hour before the service. Interment will follow in Adamsville Cemetery, Edwardsburg.
